The Maratika Caves is a sacred pilgrimage site in eastern Nepal associated with the Buddha Padmasambhava and Shiva the Hindu deity.  Padmasambhava with his consort Mandarava performed many miraculous deeds in this place.  Maratika is a very important place for Amitabha and Amitayus, possibly one of the most powerful Buddhist places in the world. V.N.O.S. will be sponsoring Amitayus puja at Maratika every month from the Health Fund, to remove life obstacles and to have long life and good health.  Maratika or ‘Chi ba mthar byed’ in Tibetan means “eliminates from death”, and is known as Halesi or “literally astonishing”. One of the senior V.N.O.S. students read Padmasambhava's prediction and she immediately started thinking what she could do to create merit for the world with a limited budget.   In Tibetan, Guru Padmasambhava is generally referred to as Guru Rinpoche, which means “precious master.” Guru Rinpoche is a totally enlightened being, a fully awakened one, a buddha. He did not become enlightened gradually, or start practicing the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni and eventually achieve enlightenment. Guru Rinpoche incarnated as a fully enlightened being. Through his form, primordial wisdom manifests in the world to benefit all sentient beings. Buddha Shakyamuni Foretells the Coming of Padmasambhava   Buddha Shakyamuni actually predicted Guru Padmasambhava’s appearance. Nineteen different sutras and tantras contain clear predictions of his arrival and activities. In the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, Buddha Shakyamuni announced his own mahaparinirvana to the students who were with him at the time.  Hello, many people have been asking what can they do to avert the crisis predicted for 2030.  Saving lives is one of the recommended practices.  One of the things I thought of is blood donation.  Did you know only 3% of Australians donate blood?  Did you also know that a donation of blood saves three lives and if you donate plasma you save 78 lives?  Therefore, you are saving lives just by donating blood or plasma and if you continue to donate, you save so many more lives.

It is predicted by the great and omniscient Guru, Padmasambhava that in the year of the iron dog, which is 2030, there will be a huge conflict. Modern dharma practitioners think this could mean atomic war, which will affect all countries in the world. Within that same text, it gives the antidote to the violence that could ensue. Building stupas, making tsa tsa and doing as many dharma activities as possible is a summary, but please do read the full text. It is important. We are a group of Dharma practitioners who have decided to make a stupa garden, both for merit and for those who have passed on, to make tsa tsa houses to hold large amounts of Buddha images and to build single retreat huts for practitioners.
